Hello everyone! Can you believe it, I actually read enough to make a wrap up list! I’m really happy with the five books I read this month, especially since January is finals month where I live, so I was pretty productive. I’m also posting a February TBR along with this list, so stay tuned for that at the end!

January Wrap up

26047438Fire Falling
Author: Elise Kova
My Rating: 4/5 stars!

What a great start to the year! This is one of those books that actually wasn’t on my immediate TBR, but I was like why not read the second book to this series! It was definitely a mood read, and I’m super glad that I picked it up. If you didn’t know, the Air Awakens series by Elise Kova follows our main protagonist Vhalla Yarl who works in the palace as a servant girl, but soon finds out she possesses an ability for the very thing she fears.

Earth’s End 17022741-_sy540_
Author: Elise Kova
My Rating: 3.75 stars!

Continuing on to the third book…still a solid read, just not my favorite in the series so far. I felt like some of the characters in the novel didn’t really act like themselves…if that makes sense? But the reason I picked up this book right after, was because Fire Falling ended on SUCH a cliffhanger, I literally read them both back to back in almost one sitting.

Sleeping Giants 25733990
Author: Sylvain Neuvel
My Rating: 4 stars!
My Review

This is my second favorite read of the month because one thing about me, is that I love science fiction novels SO much. And for some weird reason, I don’t read much of it! But this book absolutely blew me away, it’s so interesting and engaging, and SO cool. I actually have a full non-spoiler review of this already up on my blog which you can view here, but if not this book is basically about a group of scientists trying to discover the origin and purpose of this giant metal hand that appeared out of nowhere.

Everless 323206611
Author: Sara Holland
My Rating: 4.25 stars!
My Review

And…for one of the most hyped books of January, (which really did live up to its hype), Everless! It really was an enjoyable read, and I’m glad that I picked it up this month. This book follows our main character Jules as she tries to gain more time for her father, since in this world, time is essentially currency. So if you commit crimes, you get years of your life taken away, and also use time to pay overdue taxes etc… It’s such an interesting concept and the author executed the idea so well.

The Cruel Prince 5183qqfkzcl-_sx329_bo1204203200_
Author: Holly Black
My Rating: 5 stars! (honestly all the stars I could possibly give)
My Review

I almost thought this one wasn’t going to be in my wrap up. I was fully intending to take my time with this book (I started it around Jan 27) but once I hit the 70 page mark, I read more than half the book in one night. It is SO good, and it’s most definitely my favorite read of the month. Honestly it could probably be my favorite read of the year. I’m not going to go into full detail about my thoughts since I have a non-spoiler review of it, BUT READ THIS BOOK! 10/10 RECOMMEND.

February TBR!

So for February, I have a pretty small TBR which consists of five books. I’m just going to say it right now, there’s still a 10% chance I’ll actually be able to complete this goal. 😂

23367265Immortal Reign
Author:
Morgan Rhodes

This book is my most anticipated read of the year. I’ve literally been waiting for this book for SO long and I can’t believe I’m so close to reading it! It’s the last book of the series, which makes me so sad but at the same time I need to know what happens! It’ll probably be one of my first reads of February, and one thing I can say to you readers, is go pick up the Falling Kingdoms series! It’s the perfect series to binge read!

Author:
Megan Whalen Turner

I read the first book to this series back in December, and I enjoyed it enough to buy the next 4 books without hesitation. If that implies something then…. I’m really excited to get into this book, especially since I hear that the series gets even better with each installment.

51c7igsoyhl-_sx329_bo1204203200_Norse Mythology
Author:
Neil Gaiman

Honestly, I picked this book up on a whim! I was browsing through audible a couple of days ago and saw it, and was like why not? I am a huge junkie for all things mythology, so I really think I’m going to enjoy listening to this one a lot! (Plus it’s a pretty short audiobook!)

15839976Red Rising
Author:
Pierce Brown

For some reason, (probably that I’m dumb) I did not know that this book was science fiction. I saw it everywhere, but paid it no heed, until I read a synopsis somewhere and was so shocked that it was about people living on Mars. It was almost 4 years later that I read the synopsis and immediately bought the book. So I kinda hate myself but at the same time can’t wait to love another sci-fi book.

30975382Blood and Sand
Author:
C.V. Wyk

So I’ve been seeing this book around quite a bit lately, and I was so intrigued by the plot of it. I mean, it’s about warriors and princesses and gladiators. HOW COOL. Plus I haven’t even heard a negative thing about this book yet, so that’s definitely right up my ally.

Just as a side note, my TBR for February is most likely to change a lot. I’m very much a mood reader, and I don’t like to force myself to read something that I don’t feel like reading. 🙈 ☺️
Thank you guys so much for reading! Let me know a book that’s on your February TBR!
