Whaaaaaat I actually finished a book during my read-a-thon? Scratch that, 2 books?
Who am I? 😂
I keep saying that I barely read anything during this read-a-thon, BUT I actually completed the goals that I set for myself in my last post, which were…
-Start & finish reading Blood and Sand by C.V. Wyk ✓
-Finish listening to Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman ✓
-Start reading ADSOM by V.E Schwab ✓
So technically…I successfully completed the read-a-thon, (even though the total number of pages I read isn’t that impressive) BUT STILL.
I really enjoyed doing this since it allowed me to finish off those books that I’ve been reading for waaaay too long. Like Norse Mythology for example, I’ve literally been listening to that audiobook for over 3 weeks, and the length of the audiobook is 6 hours…
AND, a little confession here, I didn’t stay up the full 24 hours… I was up until 2:00 in the morning and I could not for the life of me keep my eyes open any longer. So when I eventually woke up, I started properly reading again at around noon.
But still, I don’t find this to be a successful read-a-thon because I know I could’ve read a lot more. A week ago, I started watching the Gran Hotel on Netflix, and it’s slowly consuming my life. (It’s a Spanish show so I have to read the subtitles to understand bUT IT’S SO GOOD). And for some reason, once I start a new TV series, I never feel motivated to read anymore.
But without further ado…
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
This is probably one of my favorite audiobooks of all time! The narration was done by the author (Neil Gaiman) and it was absolutely fantastic! And the stories in here are so compelling and so well-written! Definitely recommend!
Blood and Sand by C.V. Wyk
Another great read! I was already obsessed with this book from the start! The characters in this book are so admirable and strong, and the complexity of the world is definitely prevalent. I really liked learning about the political differences in this book! Full review to come soon!
And of course I’ll have a review for A Darker Shade of Magic once I finish it. (I already started jotting down some key things I want to mention!)
Thank you guys for reading! I’ll definitely be attempting to do this again later this year, preferably on a Saturday this time, but we’ll see!
