I’m 98% positive this was a Top 5 Wednesday topic a few weeks back, BUT I LOVE THE TOPIC SO MUCH, that I still had to do it, even though it’s waaaay past the date. 😂
As a side note, (which is something I feel like I mention on every single wrap up of mine when I always fail to reach my reading goal) I am 100% the slowest reader in this community. So the books that I am actually able to read super fast, I LOVE THEM! They make me feel so accomplished and it’s a great feeling, especially if you’re like me and always feel behind on your reading goals.
The Books I Read in One Sitting
Now as rare as this is for me, it sometimes happens! The thing about reading a book in one sitting, is that although as I said before it makes me feel super accomplished, I tend to forget everything I read in a couple of days. So it’s not the best technique for me 😂
Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
I genuinely, genuinely, GENUINELY, do not remember one single thing about this book. I think it has something to do with 3 girls in high school, but that’s honestly all I know. Right when I got this book in the mail (years ago) I read it in less than an hour. It was pretty insane, but the font was huge and it was like a 300 page book anyways. Overall, since this is actually a series, I think it’s a great option to read during a read-a-thon!
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
I don’t actually recommend to read this book in one sitting, I think it’s more a type of book where you pick up here and there, but I was too engrossed in the poems! I’m sure most of you have already heard or read this book because of its popularity, and I honestly had a great time reading these poems! I don’t necessarily read books like these so it was nice to try something different!
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Does this one count? I mean it’s still a book, even though there’s a lot of pictures. I absolutely LOVE this book. It’s so heart-wrenching and beautiful at the same time, and the illustrations just tie everything up so perfectly! It’s definitely in need of a reread! I totally recommend this one to all of you, it’s such an impactful book!
The ‘One Day’ Reads
So these ones took me a full day to read. I usually do this when I’m participating in a reading challenge or on the rare occasion when I’m completely infatuated with a book and I devour it.
The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
This book is one of those rare occasions! Once I started reading it, I couldn’t stop! Honestly I loved everything about this book, the romance, the diversity, the realness to the novel, it was truly fantastic! And the way Nicola Yoon writes, in the perspective of her main characters but also of the encounters of other people, it’s amazing.
Animal Farm by George Orwell
I read this book for a reading challenge last year, and I wish I took my time on it! It’s definitely a really thought-provoking novel and something that holds a lot of discussion in the book community but also in the real world.
Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes
I was too excited for this one. You know that point in a book series, where everything FINALLY starts to fall into place? Yeah, that’s this book! I remember staying up until 4 in the morning reading this one and I was so obsessed! These books are so fun and I constantly recommend them!
The ‘Three + Days’
I know this isn’t considered super fast, but I think that a lot of these that I include in this category, other people could read it a lot faster than I could!
Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
This is a book series that completed very recently (if you still haven’t checked it out, it’s one of my all time faves 😉 ) but this first book is easy to read and easy to fly through! I think this was more of a 2 day read for me, but the rest of the books are a lot bigger, and have a lot more going on.
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
A super popular YA book that I absolutely loved! The second book is also one I read pretty fast, the third book…we don’t talk about that one 😂 But nonetheless, really fun reads that take up 100% of your attention!
Frostblood by Elly Blake
A really addicting read! I remember reading and flying through this, especially because the beginning was super interesting for me! It does have aspects that make this book feel not that original, but I mainly think that’s because I read too much YA lol. It’s a fun read, and there’s already a sequel out! (As well as the third book being released in August!)
Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst
I love this book so much, and I feel like I never talk about it. Here’s a sentence that will instantly make you want to read this book: Two princesses falling in love. In a fantasy novel. It’s phenomenal. But in all honestly, I cared more about the romance than the actual stuff going on in the book 😂
That’s all the books I managed to read fairly quickly, and I hope that you added some of these to your TBRs, especially if you’re looking for a quick read! I had loads of fun compiling this list and would love to see more people do this!
Let me know some books that you finished reading quickly, so I can look more into them!

Of Fire and Stars sounds really interesting! I love me some fantasy romance! Also, I can really relate to the whole “I am 100% the slowest reader in this community” because I feel that way a lot of the time too!!!!

I read the Shadow and Bone series very quickly too – I think I read all of them back to back in less than a week, I liked them so much I could not stop.
The last book I read in one day was Bruja Born by Zoraida Córdova, sequel to Labyrinth Lost (which I didn’t even like that much). But Bruja Born was so creepy and interesting I needed to know what was going to happen next. I finished it in one afternoon.

I really can’t imagine reading Milk and Honey in one sitting. Lord, my heart. I put it aside ALL THE TIME because I just had to take in some poems before reading on, haha. Reminds me that I still have her other poetry collection to read.. I should do that sometime soon.. ish.. :’)

I am also a terribly slow reader. But I just read a book in one sitting yesterday! (Then again it was less than 200 pgs XD) But I also read Legendary in two days which is an accomplishment for me considering it’s over 400 pgs!

Same with me, I read A Monster Calls uber-fast! (didn’t even take 2 hours) Also, I can’t wait to check out the Rebel of the Sands! Your enthusiasm for this series is infectious, though now I’m wondering how the Shadow and Bone trilogy ended for you to not talk about it. 😂 Awesome post! This was so fun to read!

Hahaha is it horrible that I’d egg you on to make a rant about it? Like, I haven’t finished the series but already I want to see someone spill some tea on it 😂😂 😂

I might do it if I ever decide to reread that trilogy. 😂 It’s been ages since I first read it and I need to brush up on the information so I don’t get attacked by everyone who loves the ending 😂

Haha I totally get that. There are series I really want to rant about, but I don’t remember them enough to present my argument logically. 😉

Yeah it’s pretty hard for me to find a book that completely captures my attention to actually read it fully in one day, but the Sun is Also A Star was one of them!
