July Wrap-Up! [2018]

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be doing another wrap-up, especially since it’s been quite a few months since I last did one! This time will be a bit different–I’ll be including some of the TV shows and movies I’ve watched this month as well!

The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco [REVIEW]
★★★.5 stars
An overall enjoyable book! I did have a few problems with all the info-dumps as well as my difficulty to follow some aspects of the story, but plot was interesting enough for me to still be invested in the story! Looking forward to the sequel!

Favorite Reads from Spring 18!

Hello everyone! Awhile back, I did a ‘favorite reads of Winter 17/18’ and I thought it would be fun to continue on for the rest of the year! It’s a little late to be posting my favorites of Spring, but I still wanted to get it out there!

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

This one was definitely a long time coming. It was also my first V.E. Schwab book, and I absolutely loved it! The book has such a unique and interesting concept, and I spent the majority of the time marvelling over the world and the awesome characters! I’m super glad that I picked it up, and I cannot wait to dive into the sequel! I gave it 4 stars! [REVIEW]

The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty

Title: The City of Brass
Author: S.A. Chakraborty
My Rating: 5 stars! ⭐️
Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trade she uses to get by—palm readings, zars, healings—are all tricks, sleights of hand, learned skills; a means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles.
But when Nahri accidentally summons an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to accept that the magical world she thought only existed in childhood stories is real. For the warrior tells her a new tale: across hot, windswept sands teeming with creatures of fire, and rivers where the mythical marid sleep; past ruins of once-magnificent human metropolises, and mountains where the circling hawks are not what they seem, lies Daevabad, the legendary city of brass, a city to which Nahri is irrevocably bound.

Summer Book Haul! 🌸

Hello everyone! It’s been a few months since my last book haul, and I’ve accumulated a few more books since then! Surprisingly, I’ve actually been reading these! With every book I buy, I’m becoming more accustomed to reading them straight away rather than letting them sit on my shelf forever.

I’ve been lucky enough to receive two advanced reader copies in the mail in the recent months, and I cannot be more excited for both of them! Expect to see some reviews for them closer to their release date! 😉

Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson

Unfortunately I couldn’t really get on the bandwagon for Kiss of Deception because I got spoiled for the whole mystery aspect of the book. The spoiler really ruined my whole reading experience, but I cannot wait to read Mary’s newest series, which is based in the same amazing world as The Kiss of Deception! The book is coming out August 7th!

The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

Title: The Bone Witch
Author: Rin Chupeco
My Rating: 3.5 stars! ⭐️
When Tea accidentally resurrects her brother from the dead, she learns she is different from the other witches in her family. Her gift for necromancy means that she’s a bone witch, a title that makes her feared and ostracized by her community. But Tea finds solace and guidance with an older, wiser bone witch, who takes Tea and her brother to another land for training.
In her new home, Tea puts all her energy into becoming an asha-one who can wield elemental magic. But dark forces are approaching quickly, and in the face of danger, Tea will have to overcome her obstacles…and make a powerful choice.

July TBR! [2018]

Hello everyone! I’m pretty excited about this months TBR since I finally have time to read without any interruptions! No school or exams,  just time to read and watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine! Sounds like a pretty legit summer to me. 😂

TO KILL A KINGDOM by Alexandra Christo

I’m a little too excited for this one especially since everyone in the blogging community has been telling me how awesome this book is! It’s a standalone book loosely based on The Little Mermaid, and I think it’ll be a great summer read! Now I’m just waiting for it to arrive in the mail!
