August Wrap-Up! [2018]

Hello everyone! Another month has come to a close, (way too fast might I add, especially since school starts in September!) But regardless I did manage to read some books this month, miraculously squeezing in the last one at the very last second!

Waking Gods by Sylvain Neuvel
★★★.5 stars!
An enjoyable sequel to a fantastic book series! While this wasn’t my favorite of the two, (I wish there was more explanation on the events that occurred rather than just interviews) I am still SO engrossed in this story and the mystery and science of it all. I can’t wait to see what the final book has in store!

The Fictional Family Book Tag!

I’m so thrilled to be tagged to do this, especially by the lovely Winged Cynic! (Highly recommending giving the blog a visit, the reviews and posts are insanely good and written so well!)

Yes, another post and yet another tag! I’ve been reading City of Heavenly Fire and because the book is so massive, (LIKE RIDICULOUSLY HUGE), it’s going to be a little while before I can finish it and get my review up! Hopefully I’ll find some motivation to write reviews on other books I read this month, but until then….😉

The Rules:

  • Pick 8 books off your shelves (try to not pick just your favorites!)
  • Arrange them into a random order (randomizers are good for this).
  • In the order they are arranged, open them to a random page and write down the first name you see. Don’t mix up the names!
  • In the last book, find the name of an animal/pet and write it down.
  • Put the names in the right category.
  • Tag people (spread the love) copy and paste these rules in your post, or write them out yourself.

Dreamy Book Covers Tag!

img_3326Hello! It’s been quite some time since I last did a tag, (probably over 4 months! 😳) and I  thought it would be fun to do another one!

This tag was created by Tiana @ The Book Raven and I was tagged by the lovely Acquadimore Books to do this! Thank you! ❤️

I am definitely a person who always leans towards books with aesthetically pleasing covers, no matter the case. Of course, the synopsis needs to be convincing for me to pick it up as well, but it’s rare for me to grab a book in which I don’t like the cover…. unless I’m positive I’ll enjoy it. A habit I need to break, yes, but I’m getting there!

The Rules

  1. Thank the lovely person who tagged you, spread the love!
  2. Mention Tiana @ The Book Raven as the creator of this book tag!
  3. Use the original tag image in your post. (However, feel free to add whatever other graphics your heart desires!)
  4. At least tag 1 fellow blogger for this tag.
  5. List the rules

Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson

Thank you to Raincoast books for sending me an advanced readers copy of this book! All my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Title: Dance of Thieves
Author: Mary E. Pearson
Published Date: August 7th, 2018
My Rating: 4 stars! ⭐️
When the patriarch of the Ballenger empire dies, his son, Jase, becomes its new leader. Even nearby kingdoms bow to the strength of this outlaw family, who have always governed by their own rules. But a new era looms on the horizon, set in motion by a young queen, which makes her the target of the dynasty’s resentment and anger.
At the same time, Kazi, a legendary former street thief, is sent by the queen to investigate transgressions against the new settlements. When Kazi arrives in the forbidding land of the Ballengers, she learns that there is more to Jase than she thought. As unexpected events spiral out of their control, bringing them intimately together, they continue to play a cat and mouse game of false moves and motives in order to fulfill their own secret missions.

August TBR! [2018]

Hello everyone! I’m so sorry about my absence from blogging/interacting with your posts! I went on a road trip last week and I had zero time to even open my laptop! 😳

It was definitely a long one, 14 hours of driving does not sound fun, but I did manage to power through some audiobooks! I haven’t been listening to audiobooks nearly as much as I used to, so it was nice to catch up on some!

I still wanted to share with you guys the books I’m planning to read throughout the rest of August, so without further ado…

WAKING GODS by Sylvain Neuvel

I’m finally continuing on with this series! I honestly have no clue what took me so long to actually consider reading the sequel, but I’m finally doing it! It’s one of the books I  listened to during the drive and I’m sure I’ll be able to finish it! This book is the sequel to Sleeping Giants, a science-fiction novel in which a group of scientists try to piece together the mystery and origin of a giant metal hand.
