Since I haven’t finished any books lately I decided to do this awesome tag, because everything Harry Potter related is GREAT.
A book you found interesting, but would like to rewrite.
For this, I have to go with Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I absolutely loved the premise of it whilst reading the synopsis, but the book itself did not live up to my expectations. I wanted there to be more of that whimsical aspect that the description lead on to believe, but unfortunately to me, it just fell very flat.
A first book in a series that got you hooked.
Hands down, this goes to Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. I’m not usually the type of reader who binges a series, for some reason I just can’t stay in the same world for an extended period of time, but this series I needed to keep reading. This series has multiple point of views, princesses and princes, drama, angst, romance…literally everything I want in a book.
A book that you wish you could have right now.
So easy. Circe by Madelline Miller. I truly don’t know anything about the book, but I will read anything from the author who wrote The Song of Achilles.
4. Cheering Charm
A book that gave you all the warm fuzzies.
See, I want to pick a contemporary book for this one, which would’ve been Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon…but I think Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi wins the title for this one, because one word: WARNER!
A book that made you cry.
Not going to lie to you guys, I cry in every single book I read. Like 95% of them for no reason. The one sole book that made me cry the most was The Song of Achilles, but since I kinda mentioned it previously, I’m going to go with Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken. I don’t really remember why I cried…but I just know that I did. I read that book YEARS ago. (oh shoot I could’ve also said tfios…)
A book you intentionally spoiled for yourself.
Did you mean…every book I’ve ever read? I swear, for some reason I always spoil myself on books. Like when I’m halfway through a book, and am feeling all the feels, I can’t stop myself from going on Tumblr or Instagram and searching up the tag that inevitably spoils me. But one that really stands out is ACOMAF, because I remember people getting early copies of it and posting it around Tumblr, and I just had to read it.
A book you wish you could make everyone read because you love it so much.
Once again, this would be Song of Achilles if I hadn’t already mentioned it, but to change things up, I’ll say The Sun is also a Star by Nicola Yoon. This book discusses very relevant topics such as deportation and the pressures that your family can place on you. Followed by one of the cutest romances you’ll ever read!
A book or series you wish never ended.
Obviously Harry Potter. I don’t even think I have to say more. I just really want J.K Rowling to write some books about the Marauders!
9. Wingardium Leviosa
A book with an uplifting ending or message.
This one is pretty hard for me, because honestly every book I read leaves me emotionally scarred. But Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda has such an awesome ending for such an awesome book, it makes me so happy.
A book you wish you could forget you ever read.
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. I found it so slow and boring, and Mare was SO annoying to me. The relationships and the conversations just felt so awkward and forced idk.
An author whose book always get you out of a reading slump.
KASIE WEST! ALWAYS! Her contemporary books are so quick and easy to fly through, that 75% of the time I get out of my reading slump. (Highly recommend On the Fence if you’re looking for a cute and quick contemporary read!)
A book that made you want to send it flying.
This is definitely an unpopular opinion, because I know that a lot of people in the book community LOVE this book, which was the reason I picked it up. The writing in this story is absolutely beautiful and enchanting, but its the romance that irked me so much because it just came out of nowhere. Also, Fire Falling by Elise Kova could go in this one too, not because I didn’t like that one, but because there was a lot of miscommunication in the book that made me want to scream! :))))))
A book with a shocking twist or ending.
Another hard one for me. I always spoil myself on book endings so I don’t really get surprised. But I guess Crystal Storm by Morgan Rhodes fits into this, because the ending was such a shock to me. AND I still have to wait til February to find out what happens!
14. Aresto Momentum
A book that caused you to stop doing other things until you finished it.
Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman. Guys, let me just tell you, this book honestly consumed my soul. I’ve already reread it like 3 times and I’m still not tired of it. It’s one of those books that are so fast paced, you need to know what happens.
15. Finite Incantatem
Best series conclusion.
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo wins this one. I am never satisfied with any ending, but this one I was so happy with. It wasn’t too out in the open or too structured, it was absolutely perfect and I loved it so much.
Thanks for reading! Let me know if you agree or disagree with any of these!
